After several hours spent reading, searching, deciphering and listening to music, I still don’t know for sure what do I need to buy in order to sign the 64 bit driver for SpeedFan. An interesting page seems to be this one from MS, but one of the first sentences there is “This information is temporarily unavailable. Check back soon for updates.“, which is not that encouraging. Any thought, or hint?
Raistlin, at the end of my search, I just purchased the 499$ Verisign certificate. I hope to receive the certificate tomorrow or the day after. I will be glad to receive an email from you to let you test it.
By the way GIVEIO.SYS is not needed on 64 bit platforms.
Sweet! Can’t wait for the x64 version to hook this up with LCDC and my new little drive bay screen
Almico,
if you need additional testers for the 64bit Vista Version please send me a mail or link with the software and I will also test it.
PS: It is an excellent tool!
Thanks for buying it. I paid for HMonitor a couple years back and the author posted on his/her web site that they will not support Vista x64 anytime in the near future. And I ALREADY PAID for it.
As soon as you release the x64 version, look for a healthy donation for having to pay Verisign – because if you had to give $500 to anyone, it shouldn’t be them.
Thanks for the good work and pushing forward with technology. It’s like someone saying Windows 95 sucks, let’s just stay with 16-bit Win 3.1 – why not?
That is good news indeed!
I hope you will manage to implement the driver-signing quickly, then I can finally make VISTA my primary OS. I’m using the F8 option at the moment, but it can become quite tiresome after a while….
Hi…First of all, thx for a very nice program. I repair computers and this little tool of yours is a real “gem”
I have one prob though…After ive replace version 4.21 ( speedfan ) with beta V4.32 beta8, i get access violaton errors ( if i open the program immediatly for the 2nd time )…just thought id let you know
Sorry to hear you had to spend even more cash on your certification Almico. But I’m sure I’m not alone in looking forward to seeing one of the best utilities being fully functional under x64 Vista.
Congrats by your great work ant time spent on this great tool!
MC
Hoping a version with driver signed will be out soon. Just switched to vista 64bit and speedfan is a must have app for me. So keep the good work up!
Check the BETA AREA in the next hours
I can’t wait for the beta update, thanks Almico! Ever since I upgraded to x64 Vista I’ve been losing countless hours of sleep because of all the noise my computer makes, but hopefully with your update I can finally control my fans.
Wooo, a 64-bit version of SpeedFan.
thanks.
Oh, thats a hint to that we will soon see a new version, yay.
Great!
Thanks for actually supporting us Vista 64 users! I sent you some dough to help out
Hi,
I´m wondering why you are not able to publish signed driver for Vista 64bit. Is it so difficult? I´m waiting. And, I dont want to donate! I want to be shure that I get a working version when I´m paying for it. I would pay 14,95 €. WHY you do not sell SPEEDFAN. SPEEDFAN is a realy very good tool. My compliment!!!
Hello Alfredo,
many thanks to north italy to a boy who make my most wanted application.
waiting und clicking your site last hours many times an hope new 64-bit vista beta will come…. tonight
PS: Make Speedfan to Shareware?
Ohhh, many hours are gone and no news about speedfan after hundrets of visits…and waiting…and waiting…and waiting……..
k, go to bed now (3:15 pm middle european time)
So, did the thing we should be looking at in the “Beta Area” get delayed or?
Anyway looking forward to it, whenever it becomes aviable.
Beta page on constant refresh, getting ichy now dude.
SN, the main problem is that, as somebody correctly stated above, only Verisign can allow a successful signing experience. This is far from being clear on MS website. I had to purchase two different certificates. I was slightly reluctant to be forced to pay the 499$ for the one from Verisign. This is the reason why I explored other paths, even if, at the end of the story, I paid almost twice as much, but my principles are safe now
Looks like a win-win.
Since you say that you don’t want to donate, I think you will be happy to discover that you don’t have to. SpeedFan is still free and I think that it is fully working on Vista 64 bit
I will greatly appreciate if you could send me a SEND REPORT from SpeedFan’s INFO tab. I’m leaving for the weekend and I would like to see at least a report.
Thank you to everybody for your help, support and energy.
Thanks for the new version, its been working flawlessly on my vista ultimate x64 so far.
Speedfan 4.32 beta 17 won’t work on my 2K3 system. I got “Runtime error 217 at 00542887″ dialog and “Application popup: speedfan.exe – Application Error : The exception unknown software exception (0×0eedfade) occurred in the application at location 0×77e55dea.” in eventlog.

Video Adapter: RADEON 9500 (Omega 3.8.252) (128 MB)
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
Works great for me, though I still need to do F8 at boot to get my Matrix Orbital LCD working, I’ve got Speedfan displaying on it via LCDC under Vista x64, thanks!
I the detection window or what its called, i get a lot of these messages:
SMBus msg : 11:28:19.837 SELB $26 to $2E (2 retries)
SMBus msg : 11:49:05.728 SELB $26 to $2E (2 retries)
What do those mean?
Nitrius, that should mean that there is some other app accessing the same resource.
So there is nothing wrong?
And ideas of what it can be? because i have no clue, i got no other monitor program installed atm.
Hi, sorry to bother you, but my Speedfan beta has now stopped working (expired) and I’m now going nuts enduring the roaring fans…:-)
When can I expect to see a replacement beta or final?
Thanks.
Hi Alfredo, I have a problem with the latest release of Speedfan (4.32). With 4.32 beta 8 I could see the speed of all fan with no problem, now with the official realese the fan speed are signed 0 RPM (I have 3 fan, all 0 RPM). I just tried with Lavalys Everest and I can see all speed! I have tried to reinstall the program, nothing has changed
Any idea?
I just tried to revert with beta 8, It works like a charm.
My chip is IT8712F on a DFI LanParty UT NF4-D mainboard.
Ok I just do another try with both version and I discovered a thing, in Options, Advanced, I selected my chip name, on Beta 8 there are this voice:
FAN1 Divisor
FAN2 Divisor
FAN3 Divisor
All with value 8. In the final release there aren’t.
Thanks a lot for writing a version for Vista x64! Man, I’m so sorry that you had to pay $500 just to write free software for us. I’ll try to send you a token donation as befitting a broke student soon.
One issue with SpeedFan is that the SMART feature does not work unless the program is run with elevated privileges. This wasn’t indicated anywhere immediately obvious, so I thought I should let you know. Perhaps either the installer can set SpeedFan to run as elevated by default? Or perhaps the SpeedFan service can be modified to gather SMART data as well to get past this limitation?
It also may be good to move the configuration and log files into the AppData or the user profile folder instead of the program folder, since the VirtualStore folder for backwards compatibility is only enabled by default for Vista x32. The folder in Program Files is by default not writeable by non-elevated applications.
I’m also thinking about writing a Vista sidebar gadget that will try to take data from SpeedFan and display my various temperature readings.
Thanks again for your work!
Something seems to be wrong with the 4.32 final. Worked fine for a day, but when i restarted and started speedfan again i get alot of errors popping up saying: Access violation at address 005450AF in speedfan.exe or something.
Tried to reinstall speedfan without any luck.
Forgot to mention that i run it under vista x64.
Hi Nitrius,
I have exactly the same problem here in Vista x86.
I adready used it lots of times before in vista but now it has same error here.
My computer is Shuttle SN41G2 (FN41)
Regards.
I get the access violation at 005450AF error (read of address 00000178) too, and I’m running 4.32 final on XP 32bit.
Had the same problem myself with the access violation 005450AF. in Vista x86 but have a athlon 64 bit CPU. Speedfan worked fine for a day after install then the errors occured and reinstalls did not help. Went back to 4.30 version and that is now working and will see if it stays that way and post back results.
